The 1st Annual Pink with A Passion Cancer Walkathon was held Saturday, April 9, 2022 at the Warren County Recreation Center in Warrenton, NC. The walk celebrates and honors breast cancer survivors and caregivers and raises awareness about reducing cancer risk and to raise money to assist cancer patients. After planning for two years and the delay due to Covid, we were finally able to hold the Walk. Although it was a cold, windy day, the turnout was amazing – with over 150 people in attendance. Our MC, Sherman Johnson, opened the event calling for a prayer. Warm-up and stretching exercises to prepare for the walk were instructed by Debo Miles and William Kearney. All participants registered to walk the 3 laps around the track as the pompom girls cheered and encouraged along with way. A beautiful multicolored balloon arch (symbolizing all types of cancer) was provided by Jeanine Strickland and set up during the final lap along with various healthy snacks. Music was provided by DJ Paul, Angela Neal and the Warren County Marching Band. Powerful speakers addressed the audience about their experiences while battling cancer as well as the importance of regular doctor visits and self-checks.
Various tables were set up which consisted of PWAP t-shirts, Oncology Clinic nurses, Honor Bands, First-aid and a Memorial Table. The day ended with cancer survivors taking a final lap, lighting candles and releasing balloons. The event was a day filled with love, fellowship and support. The second annual walkathon is scheduled for Saturday, May 6, 2023.
Our 3rd Annual Rainbow Luncheon was held June 4, 2022 at the Afton-Elberon Fire Department in Warrenton, NC. The “rainbow” signifies the various types of cancer and anyone battling cancer was invited. We were hoping to have our usual sit-down luncheon but due to increase in COVID cases, we prepared boxed meals and had a drive through. Guests were greeted with a beautiful rainbow balloon arch designed by OMG Events and a PWAP Committee member. Our luncheon included grilled barbeque chicken, turkey barbeque, slaw, green beans, potato salad, garden salad, fresh fruit, rolls and drinks. We served over 125 cancer patients and their guests. We were able to greet each person offering encouraging words and prayers. It was a wonderful day of fellowship, uplifting spirits and letting everyone know that they are not alone during this journey. PWAP realizes that this disease brings about a lot of anxiety and stress and therefore supports all through faith, prayer and donations. Our next annual luncheon is scheduled for Saturday, June 10, 2023.

Pink with a Passion has been very busy this year. We are an organization that shows love, support and encouragement during times of need for cancer patients. Just a few of the outreach activities that we have done:
– Purchased and delivered groceries to a mother and her child. The mother was going through her cancer journey and contracted COVID. She reached out to PWAP in need of food. We delivered groceries and built a friendship and bond with her. She truly appreciated what we did and said would never forget us.
– Purchased silicone prosthetic breasts and bras to two cancer patients who were unable to afford to purchase. It was such a blessings to see smiling faces when we delivered them.
– Donated $250 to 8 cancer patients. They all were so grateful and appreciated us for thinking and praying for them.
With the help of our community, we will continue to help as needed. When cancer patients reach out to us, we do whatever possible to help in any way we can. We continue to be a blessing through donations, grants and fundraising.
